The PepperBall System

The PepperBall® system is unique in the industry as the first non-lethal weapon to combine multiple effects to accomplish its objective safely and without permanent injuries or death. Since late 1999 PepperBall has been deployed in thousands of situations around the globe, successfully filling a gap in the use of force continuum where no other tools are available.

The PepperBall system consists of a PepperBall launcher and projectiles. The launchers are high-pressure air delivery systems. PepperBall projectiles are hard plastic spheres built to burst on impact. Live projectiles are the foundation of the system and are filled with enough PAVA (Capsaicin II) powder to irritate a suspect's eyes, nose and throat. As such, the PepperBall system combines a unique kinetic impact technology with pepper powder irritant as a non-lethal deployment device for peace officers. We call this combination of affects Chem-netics™ and hold multiple patents protecting our technology.

Chem-netics makes PepperBall systems effective tools for gaining target compliance. PepperBall projectiles are launched from several types of launchers appropriate for the intended use. These launchers use high-pressure air (CO2) to launch the projectiles. Because the projectiles break upon impact they do not penetrate skin, making this weapon safe even at contact range.

For public safety and government markets, PTI markets several launchers. The launchers include rifle (SA-200) and pistol (SA-10 & SA-4), configurations for public safety and the government sectors, and pistols for home protection. The company markets a number of PepperBall projectiles for tactical and training use in these markets, including: the pepper powder filled live projectiles, inert powder training rounds, dye filled marking rounds, water filled indoor training, anti-freeze-water and glass breaker rounds.

PTI has also developed other products, including the HotShot and FlashLauncher, that it will launch into consumer markets in the fall of 2008.

PepperBall brand Pepper Spray

PTI has also introduced PepperBall brand Pepper Spray for the public safety and government markets. Using the same PAVA chemistry, this next generation pepper spray is 5 times hotter than the leading brand of pepper spray on the market today, yet because it is not an oil based product, enables faster decontamination time, and because of the formulation, is guaranteed to be consistent in heat intensity every time, a real advantage over current OC based pepper sprays on the market today.

PepperBall brand ImpactPlus

In the summer of 2003, PTI introducted PepperBall brand ImpactPlus® , the first frangible 12-gauge round utilizing PTI's patented Chem-netics™ technology. This round loads in standard law enforcement and military issue smooth bore shotguns, and are target accurate to 65 feet.

PepperBall brand The Neutralizer

For the consumer markets, PTI has launched a limited geography expansion of The Neutralizer™, a pistol for effective non-lethal home protection, with live and training rounds available for purchase by consumers. A Pepper Spray product for personal protection will be available soon, and Bear Pause Bear Deterrent is currently marketed and sold in Canada.
