Unique PAVA active irritant ensures extremely effective pepper spray that is faster acting, consistently hot, easier to clean-up
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – August 26, 2003
PepperBall® Technologies, Inc., the leading producer of non-lethal weapon solutions, has expanded its innovative non-lethal product line with the introduction of the PepperBall® PAVA Pepper Spray. The product is the first PAVA (capsaicin II) active irritant-based spray and is currently available for use in private security, law enforcement, corrections, and military applications.
PepperBall PAVA Pepper Spray is an extremely reliable non-lethal option that has a recommended range of up to 14 feet. It contains PAVA, the same heat generating capsaicin II molecule that naturally occurs in pepper plants, produced to a controlled and predictable high grade quality, making it the most effective, hottest pepper spray with five times more potency than the leading industry pepper spray brand. As documented by independent researchers at the Center for Human Toxicology Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Utah,* the quality of PepperBall PAVA Pepper Spray also ensures 100 percent formula and effectiveness consistency across all spray cans; a distinct advantage over other pepper spray products. Other spray products rely upon oleoresin capsicum (OC) as an active ingredient can be inconsistent due to variation in pepper potency from pepper crop to pepper crop.
“We’re giving law enforcement an important tool that helps ensure officer safety and suspect compliance,” said George Burkle, PepperBall’s general manager. “PepperBall brand PAVA Pepper Spray delivers extremely effective and fast acting stopping power that officers can rely on every time.”
PepperBall's pepper spray delivers its unique PAVA active irritant in a quick, high-powered method, ensuring maximum dispersion for immediate effect on suspects. PAVA’s speed of effectiveness is superior to OC, which is a heavy, oil based irritant that is difficult to aerosolize. OC also disperses in greasy droplets that detain and prevent bio-availability of heat generating capsicums. And because PAVA is not oil based, it is more quickly soluble in isopropyl alcohol and therefore easier to clean-up after use. This makes it easier for authorized officials to more quickly move on to important next steps in their missions after using a pepper spray to subdue a suspect.
The spray is currently available in 40 and 85 gram canisters that fit standard holsters, in stream or cone dispersal patterns, and come with a safety top trigger guard to prevent accidental deployment.
