Intoxicated Woman Steals Uber Driver’s Vehicle

A woman is accused of stealing an Uber driver’s vehicle while intoxicated early Saturday morning, driving the car into a tree and nearly striking a man before being arrested. An Uber driver told police that when he arrived at his passengers’ destination, a female passenger named Meagan Osgood began arguing with other passengers and refused to exit his car. The driver got out of his vehicle to stop the fight, and an irate Osgood locked the doors, according to a news release from the agency. She then allegedly drove the vehicle through a yard, nearly hitting the Uber driver, who told police he had to jump out of the way to avoid being run over, and also hit a tree. Osgood eventually exited the vehicle after numerous commands from police, but refused to move away from the car. A Fort Collins police officer deployed Pepperball on the ground near her in an attempt to get her to comply. Osgood, a 25-year-old Broomfield resident, was arrested on suspicion of felony counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft, menacing, criminal mischief, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol as well as misdemeanor counts of obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest.
