Peoria police fire pepperballs to disperse crowd north of Downtown

PEORIA — Police officers fired more than a dozen pepperballs at a crowd gathered in the street just north of Downtown before a fight broke out early Sunday morning. According to a report filed at the Peoria Police Department, officers went to the 1400 block of Northeast Jefferson Avenue shortly after 4 a.m. on a call of trouble with a man. When they arrived, they found 15 people in the street who appeared ready to fight. Officers yelled at them to leave. They didn’t and began to push each other. An officer fired 15 pepperballs at the ground, hitting no one, the report said, before the crowd dispersed. No arrests were made. Full story here:
